MICRONEEDLING
Mironeedling is an aesthetic procedure using small needles to prick the skin. During the microneedling procedure, small pricks are made under the skin with a pen or roller-like tool. The pinpricks are so tiny you won’t notice them after the procedure. Your aesthetician will move the tools evenly across your skin so new skin rejuvenation will be even.
You may have topical anesthetics used to reduce any chances of pain. Anesthetics are applied about an hour before your treatments. After that, the actual microneedling process takes about 30 minutes.
A calming solution is applied after the treatment, and you are ready to go about your daily life. The treatment aims to generate new collagen and skin tissue for firmer, smoother, and more toned skin. microneedling is used mostly on the face, but this treatment can also be used in other places on the body – from the top of the head to the ankles. Microneedling can be used in many anti-aging procedures, such as around the eyes and on sunspots. After your micronnedling procedure, you will also notice various scars, wrinkles, and large pores that have decreased in size.
Microneedling is considered safe for those who are in overall good health. Check with your aesthetician if you use certain acne medications or are pregnant. There may be some minor redness and irritation for a few days after the procedures, but this quickly goes away.
The total prep and procedure time is around two hours. Most patients need at least four procedures for the best results.
Microneedling is non-invasive and safe. The recovery time is minimal, and there is little or no downtime. Your skin may be sensitive to the sun, so do wear sunscreen. You will quickly notice an improvement in reduced wrinkles, diminished scarring, and a tightening of loose and sagging skin.
Many of our microneedling clients show improvement in skin texture and appearance in as little as one treatment. We typically recommend 3 – 4 treatments a month or so apart to achieve optimal results.
Everyone’s pain threshold is different, but generally speaking, microneedling treatments are not painful. Certain sensitive areas on the face may feel a bit stinging.
Downtime on microneedling treatments typically is very quick; it just depends on your skin and how it reacts to the treatment. The skin may be red and a little swollen for a few hours after the treatment, but usually, there is no downtime.
